The Chief Justice, Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny - Dollo presided over the launch of new Rules and Practice Directions that will guide the civil, criminal and bail practice.
Among the The Rules and Practice Directions that were launched are;
The Judicature (Court Bailiffs) Rules, S.I. No. 53/2022;
The Judicature (Amicus Curiae) Rules, S.I. No. 54/2022;
The Judicature (Legal Representation at the Expense of the State) Rules, S.I. No. 55/2022;
and The Constitution (Bail Guidelines for Courts of Judicature) (Practice) Directions, L.N. No. 08/2022.
The launch was held at the Judiciary headquarters and witnessed by a cross-section of justice actors today on the morning of 27th July 2022. Hon. Justice Musa Ssekaana attended in the capacity of Acting Principal Judge where he took the opportunity to request the members of the Judicial law reform committee to also put the same energy and commitment towards the finalization of the proposals on the review of the court of Appeal rules, directions on the establishment of infrastructure and environment division of the high court, rules on vexatious litigation, child friendly procedures and sentencing guild lines among others.
